PROTECTION OF PRIVACY AT B.C. RECORDS MANAGEMENT SERVICES LTD.
B.C. Records Management Services Ltd. is committed to ensuring that all personal information is gathered in accordance with Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and it is accurate, confidential, and safeguarded. Records Management Services Ltd. adheres the protection of privacy legislation; our business has established ten privacy principles that govern the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
Principle 1: Accountability
B.C. Records Management Services Ltd. is responsible and accountable for personal information under its control. It has designated the Archivist/Records Manager to be responsible for coordinating the business' compliance with the established privacy principles.
Principle 2: Accuracy
The business maintains personal information as accurate, complete, and up-to-date format as is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
Principle 3: Challenge compliance
An individual can challenge compliance with these principles to the designated individual responsible for B.C. Records Management Services Ltd.'s compliance.
Principle 4: Consent
The individual will be informed and asked for consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information, except where permitted by law.
Principle 5: Identifying purposes
The purpose for which information is collected will be identified by B.C. Records Management Services Ltd. at or before the time information is collected.
Principle 6: Individual's right to access
Upon request, an individual will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of his or her personal information and will be given access to that information, within the confines of the law. An individual will be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of this information and have it amended as appropriate.
Principle 7: Limiting collection
The collection of personal information will be limited to that which is necessary for the operational purposes identified by B.C. Records Management Services Ltd. Information will be collected by fair and lawful means.
Principle 8: Limiting use, disclosure, and retention
Personal information is not used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the informed consent of the individual or as required by law. Personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of these purposes.
Principle 9: Openness
B.C. Records Management Services Ltd. will make readily available to individuals, specific information about its policies and practices related to the management of personal information.

Security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information protect personal information.
