Vault Storage
B.C. Records has a dedicated vault room for storage of electronic and sensitive materials. It is in a secure, fire-resistant, temperature and humidity-controlled environment. We adhere to strict museum standards for vault storage that are closely monitored by our Archivist/Records Manager.
These standards include:
- Temperature and Humidity fluctuations kept to +/- 2 degrees/RH
- Key card access restricts entry to authorized personnel
- Double door entry to reduce the level of air contamination further increase security
- Temperature and Humidity is monitored by a sophisticated hygrothermograph
- Our security company also monitors the vault for fluctuations at +/- 5 degrees as a failsafe
- 24 hour security monitoring and fire resistant vault
- Air is re-circulated within the vault room to reduce the introduction of pollutants and dust.
- No wood or acidic cardboard (non-acidic boxes are acceptable) is used as wood emits gases that are detrimental to records and acidic cardboard deteriorates rapidly and contributes to pollutants in the air. Instead we have metal, mobile shelving.
- Containers used to store tapes are designed to protect against electrostatic charges, are lined with anti-static foam, and prevent light from damaging the tapes
Commonly stored material include:
- Back-up Data Tapes
- Media Materials
- Surveillance Tapes
But did you know that the secure vault is a perfect place to store:
- Wills
- Trial Video Tapes
- Company Historical Documents
- Pictures
- Maps
